Osprey Stratos 24

£60.00

LFTO rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 4.5

This daysack from Osprey benefits from a long, slim shape, and the Aircore concave back system feels incredibly comfortable, no matter what the load. Excellent padding on the hips and shoulder straps. It seems huge for its claimed 24 litres, and is really easy to pack due to the long main compartment zip. The pockets aren’t quite as good as some.

Verdict: A fine zipped option that’s comfortable, stable and really easy to get in and out of. It’s well featured, with some really nice touches, and certainly seems built to last.

Capacity: 24 litres

Main compartment: Zipped

I love this pack. It is cavernous, easy to fill, comfortable and looks pretty nice. I use it with a 3 litre Osprey Hydraform, which is a good fit, snuggling between the backframe and "airflow" mesh. The backframe means that you forget how heavy the pack is (something which it is even when empty) and get used to carrying loads in. It's always surprising to put the pack down after carrying it for a while and then pick it back up when you realise that weight has been on your back for the last few hours. My only gripes are that the top pockets are too large, encouraging you either to stuff them full and make the bag top-heavy or leave them empty which makes the bag look somewhat deflated. The second and main gripe is that - like with the 50 litre Atmos - it doesn't stand up. It's even difficult to lean against a wall or your legs, which is annoying when trying to fill it. Because of the curved bottom and backframe, it's like trying to lean a banana against a wall. It sounds minor, but it drives you crazy. Sadly, I left some peanuts in the mesh hip pocket during a trek in Borneo at a jungle camp. The rats lacerated the mesh and made off with the peanuts and half a packet of ibuprofen....

great build quality, materials and design. i bought the latest version of this pack and tested on Scafell Pike in bad weather. used a liner rather than the rip-off osprey official raincover. only problem i had was my cheapo hydration pack (hung in the 'aircore' cavity, good idea to save space in the pack) dug into my back due to its big filler cap; solution was to either switch hydro pack to face other way or hang map case infront of it. a top fill hydro pack design would be best if you wish to hang it like this carries extremely well and large backsize give s a little more capacity than stated

It could be that the sly and some not so sly digs about my rucksack obsession being worse than a womans obsession with handbags and shoes could be coming to an end! All previous attempts to find the 'perfect daysack' have left me with a cupboard full of rucksacks that were too big, too small, a pocket short....etc. Bring on the Osprey Stratos 24. The fit, well it fits like a glove and so comfortable with it. I can get everything I need in it, thats including 3 litres of water, bothy bag, first aid kit, spare clothes stove mess tins cup and food for the day. Of all the sacks I've had this is the ultimate. So no more digs and lots more cupboard space, thank you Osprey!
