This is a very lightweight rucksack, which is how it has sneaked into the top eight in our test. The capacity is 24 litres, so it’s just about big enough for those who are going to skimp on their creature comforts. The back system is well-padded compared with many others here and thus a little more comfortable to wear. The hipbelt is well padded too and gets large pockets that are ideal for energy bars. The sack has a zipped main opening, to save the weight of a conventional lid. There is a good stash pocket on the front and a drawcord bungee on the front, which, when combined, are ideal for stowing gear. There are two mesh side pockets and a compression strap on each side to stabilise the load. The sack is hydration system-compatible too. So a good range of features, with the weight being the main draw to this sack. But at 24 litres this is a small sack, so you need to pack lean to get your gear in. There is only one compression strap on each side so this is not the best if it is not fully loaded. The side pockets are very shallow too. It is really no better or worse than many of the other sacks that scored 3, so do consider others before buying on this.

Verdict
A lightweight sack that is good for light hiking and mountain marathons, but a number of sacks offer similar performance, so it is not a clear-cut choice.
