Berghaus Freeflow 30+6

The design of this daysack is useful if you are away overnight as it uses a zip-out/Velcro inner section to split the pack into two. Access is gained via the pocket at the base, while the Velcro allows you to carry tent poles even when you are using the divider. The back system is well-vented and has soft, mesh-filled shoulder straps. Plus there is an adjustable hipbelt and chest strap. The lid accommodates a detachable rain cover, as well as having a pocket inside and out. There is also a pocket on each side that can be compressed along with the main rucksack body      But there is no adjustment at the top of the shoulder straps. The lid is fastened using only one buckle and doesn’t fit as well as some and there is no front pocket for a map. Niggly points, but they add up.

I've had this pack for nearly a year now and used it in all conditions. I first tried it out on the South West Coast path wearing just a short sleeved shirt and found it quite uncomfortable as the padded hip section rubbed quite a lot and I found myself fiddling with it everytime I tried. I then tried it out in the Scottish Highlands which was a little colder so I was wrapped up better and felt it a lot more comfortable. The Freeflow back system is excellent in warm weather and even though my back did get wet in te warm weather it didn't stay wet for long (this is also a good place to store your map) It has plenty of compartments/pockets (6 in total) which is very handy for keeping certain things seperate ie food/waterproofs etc...There is a top and bottom entrance which again makes sorting your pack out a lot easier. It has an excellent waterproof cover which I have tried in some very heavy downpours and the pack has stayed totally dry, though it didn't stretch right over my poles which can fit to the back via velcro straps. It also a compartment for a hydration bladder which will just about take a 2litre one. There are 2 small pockets on the side which are handy for a camera or gps but are not deep enough for water bottles. To Conclude: Good Points:: Lot of pockets Great Freeflow system Waterproof Cover Pole holders Bad Points:: Can be hard to get comfortable (Though I have finally got mine ok now) 2 small bottle pockets are no good for bottles On a whole I would recommend as you can get these for approx £40 now and there isn't much better for that price.
