Zamberlan Munro

These three-season boots from Zamberlan aren’t as padded as many and have an extremely low ankle cuff, which feels really odd at first. But it only takes a few miles to get used to them, and you won’t notice them afterwards, as if to prove the point. The other thing you’ll notice about the Munros is the light weight, which certainly pays dividends on longer walks. They are also very low-cut, which means they don’t feel big and clumsy on easy low-level paths. The midsole’s a bit too soft for rough going, and that, combined with a deepish tread, makes them better suited to softer, muddier going.

Verdict: A light and classy looking boot that provides excellent value for money for a one-piece full grain leather upper, but is definitely better suited to easier walking rather than big mountains.
