The North Face Hedgehog XCR

£75.00

LFTO rating rating is 3
Owners' rating rating is 2

This multi-activity shoe features sizes up to 14 men’s and size 11 women’s; Gore-Tex XCR waterproof lining; extensive mesh upper increases breathability; well-cushioned EVA sole; aggressive lug pattern for mud; good for most activities; antimicrobial treatment; great for running. But relatively soft toe box; upper not as durable as some; sole unit is more aggressive on others.

Verdict: Buy it if you want a lightweight, waterproof shoe for most activities outdoors.

Picked a pair of these up for £40 about a year ago now. Never really got on with them in all fairness. I didn't find them very supportive under the arch of the foot and the general fit of the shoe was a bit 'off'. The whole shoe seemed to flex a bit too much for my liking. However having said that, they have been used an awful lot, mainly on campsites and occasional backpacking trips as they are very light and the GTX lining stops morning dew wetting your socks.

I bought a pair of these in a sale for general everyday use (along with my Moab Ventillators). At full cost I think they're overpriced for what they are. They're comfortable and do the job but I find the laces look a little too thin and weak. I worry that if I pull too hard the lace will snap or one of the eyelets will 'ping' off. There are better approach shoes on the market for the price but, if you pick a pair of Hedgehogs up for around £50 and don't put them through too much of a bashing, then you have a bargain. David

I bought these shoes over a year ago and they are now in the bin, they are one of the worst bit's of kit that i have bought. The sole unit wasn't stiff enough for me and the toe box is too soft, and i would have preffered a better fitting heel cup. The lacing system on these are completely useless, which ended up snapping, and you feel every rock and stone under your foot, all this results in very poor stability and comfort. These are better for taking walks around a lake path or for around town.

had these for a year. great shoe, lightweight and comfy. wore them for the second half of the three peaks  and sunk into bogs many times and my feet stayed bone dry. would highly recommend for a good trail shoe.
