Scarpa ZG65 XCR

£110.00

LFTO rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 3.5

The ZG65 is slightly narrow, but the uppers are soft and pliable so it’ll accommodate most feet given a few wears. It’s well-padded, and feels very light, but a locking eyelet at the top of the foot would make it easier to get a really stable fit. The midsole is a compromise – stiff enough to take a bit of rough stuff, or a steep traverse, but not so stiff as to feel clumsy on easier-going ground. It has a good toe bumper and a protective heel counter, and the outsole gripped well on most surfaces. It has a Gore-Tex XCR lining, which provides waterproofness. Overall it’s a specialist mid-level boot that will cope with the higher, rougher stuff occasionally.

I am not a fan of big heavy boots, especially in summer, so bought these due to their weight and comfort. Have done 100's of miles, including coast to coast and they are fantasticly comfortble, and all you expect from Scrapa. The only issue is that they are not particularly waterproof, although with sealskins are not bad. In terms of summer thoough they are the bees knees!

Relatively stiff sole for a 3 season boot with very good grip underfoot and comfortable around the ankle. However, despite the Goretex lining, it let in water at the first puddle. I got a replacement which was no better so overall it was a disappointment. My old boots had leaked after eight years of use.
