Bought a pair of these boots whilst doing fieldwork in NE Scottish peatbog, hill and heather as a second/back-up pair. I tried them on in the shop - comfortable, seemed to have enough strength in the ankles and also looked good.
However, they really lack in suitable ankle support and they have a most bizarre sole. The `Skywalk' soles I found incredibly slippery over the wet moor land - 3 steps forward, 2 back and really couldn't be trusted.
I keep wearing these boots in order to justify the cost - they are comfortable and walking on pavement or decent footpaths (provided they are not wet!) is pleasant enough.
A real shame. If I return to such fieldwork again, I'll keep with my sturdy, vibram-soled boots (Meindl Perfekts at the moment -but they lack a rand, unfortunately).
Give these boots a decent vibram sole and strengthen the ankles & you'd have a good boot, but at the moment that isn't the case.
