Scarpa Nepal

£140.00

This 3-season boot came top in our tests in April 2006 and 2007, and it’s still a superb boot for tough mountain walking. Like all the best boots, the upper is a virtually stitch-free nubuck leather design, to ensure maximum durability after years of abuse on Britain’s highest peaks. To further enhance durability, there’s a rubber rand that extends all the way around the upper, which makes this boot particularly suitable for scree, scrambles and the rockiest of mountain trips. The toe box is solid, to protect the toes. The Nepal has an articulated ankle cuff to ease comfort when the ankle flexes forward without reducing lateral support. Underfoot, a very aggressive Vibram sole unit boasts deeper lugs than most other boots here. Sole stiffness is ideal for scrambling, scree and rough mountain terrain. The Scarpa has a slightly wider fit at the toe than some, which you may prefer.
There are no issues with this boot when used for mountain walking, unless you want a waterproof lining. As the upper is leather and virtually stitch-free it won’t leak easily if cared for, however if you’re planning a long backpacking trip through very wet terrain then a waterproof boot may be a better option.

Upper: Nubuck leather
Sole: Vibram Megan
Sizes: 40-48 (men’s); 36-42 (women’s)
Weight: 1856g (pair, size 11)
Made in: Italy
Stores in the UK: 35

Verdict: A superb proven performer if you want a quality leather boot for hill and mountain walking, scrambling and backpacking and don’t want a waterproof lining.

Tough & reliable! these boots are great, soles are uber tough, upper part of the boot is very waterproof, fit is great, i love the rubber around the bottom that connects the soles to the uppers. if your tackling rocky nasty hills then look no further.

Took a very long time to break in, for some reason the left foot took forever and seemed to bend in the wrong place rubbing the top of my toes. Apart from that really great for heavy loads over rough terrain. Extremley tough wearing.

these boots have seen me treking across Africa, and closer to home in the Lakes and the Peak District. From the box they are comfortable, and found they need little wearing in. They have seen hot deserts, all the way through to bogs and mountain scrambles, and i must say they perform excellently! The full rubber rand is ideal when scrambling, and the sole unit i found rigid enough on mountain climbs. Altogether one of the best boots i have owned!
