Salomon Revo SCS GTX

£125.00

LFTO rating rating is 3
Owners' rating rating is 3.5

A 3-season boot that features a stitchless construction so durability should be very good; Gore-Tex waterproof lining; solid toe box; very aggressive Contagrip sole lug pattern; good underfoot cushioning due to PU heel section; rubber toe bumper for extra durability; women’s  sizes up to 10.5. But very flexible sole lets down an otherwise promising mountain boot.

Verdict: Buy it if you want a waterproof boot for general trekking and easier hill paths rather than rock and scree.

Nice lightweight boot that is VERY comfortable. However, my boots started leaking very early on in their life cycle (even with proper care, i.e. cleaning and reproofing). Also, the sole on the heal of my right boot is starting to pull away, which means retirement and a new pair. It's a shame because there is still a lot of grip left in the soles generally. Shame that this boot doesn't quite cut the mustard, it is nice looking, very grippy and very comfortable. Gortex performance and durability have been an issue however and I'll be looking at a different brand this for replacement.

This boot is the first boot I have bought since school-days (a long time ago!) and i really like them. They have taken me up and down the three peaks in torrential rain, out on various hikes in the UK, hiking in the Swiss alps and I have always found them to be comfortable, supportive, not too hot and completely waterproof - I couldn't ask for more (especially as they are all man-made and as such require an absolute minimum of maintenance. This year they are coming with me to Peru for 3 weeks so we will see if they are up to that.

These boots are great for lightweight tough boots without going all out lightweight with approach shoes. The look of them is different, yellow flecked black fabric and lots of rubber. The lace system creates stiction trying to pull tough laces through 'fabric' loops. They are comfortable from the box with memory foam interiors, and the gore tex liner is fine. I was sceptical when I first bought them, but after traversing the Glyders in a pair in January, I'm quite sold on them. Bit of shoppping around and should get them around the £90 mark too
