Raichle’s Mt Guide 3-season boot is a lightweight option that still manages to provide excellent protection and support. The upper is a clean, full-grain leather with minimal stitching to enhance durability. Inside there’s a Gore-Tex waterproof lining. The toe box is solid with a good rubber rand to enhance the life of the boot. The ankle is a little lower than most boots of this style, which helps to reduce weight while also providing a little more freedom of movement. Underfoot you get good cushioning and an aggressive outsole lug pattern for grip on a wide variety of terrain. This is a good hill and mountain boot for scrambling, thanks to that lower ankle cuff, but also for general walking. Some may prefer a higher ankle cuff, in which case the Raichle Mount Trail GTX at £140 would be a perfect alternative. Some boots are lighter (but not as supportive), while others have a full rubber rand for even more durability on scree and scrambles.

Verdict: A superb hill and mountain boot for those who prefer a lighter boot with a lower ankle cuff, but still want support and protection from the sole and upper.

Probably the most comfortable boots I have ever had straight from the box without any issues. The sole offers a fantastic grip though only time will tell as to how durable the sole unit is. The leather is quite soft to the touch but the rubber rand to the front of the boot offers adequate protection. Allround good boot and good value for money.

I have asn old pair of these incredibly comfortable boots. The sole is likely to fall apart on old ones so get a resole job from feet first! The boot is perfect if you have a narrow heel and hobbit feet- scarpa rand type boots always blister my feet- this one does not. I have 2 pairs and a pair of all degree lites- these need a bit of braking inand heel heat but are very waterproof 4 season boots- gets my vote! I think the issue of crap soles has been addressed. torbs

Great boot. lightweight compared to rivals, excellent support. minimal stitching helps it stand up to a good scottish drowning. Excellent soles, that grip well on and off rock.

RE: Raichle Mt Guide GTX
A very comfortable boot I would agree and completely waterproof in just about the worst weather I ever walked in, however and it's a big however I had 2 pairs fail on me completely in a period of 4 months or so. I bought a pair in January and about 2 weeks later when lacing them up one of the eyelets came free from the boot, the shop exchanged them for an identical pair without any hassle but these also suffered from the same fault about 2 months later, this time while on an LDP an eyelet came off each boot about a day apart which was kind of disconcerting. I'd happily recommend the boot but just be aware of this potential issue.
