This 4-season boot is well-padded throughout the inside  and a rubber rand around the whole boot adds protection on the outside that is ideal for mountaineering. I also like the higher ankle cuff that adds a touch more support for steeper terrain. The outsole is exceptionally aggressive which again is ideal for mountaineering and extensive winter use. On the foot it feels superb, being well-cushioned and having a good rolling action on every step for such a stiff boot. The boot feels great when climbing though and has the edge over the Scarpa in this area. But in general the Raichle is a little more of a mountaineering boot than a walking boot, thanks to the rubber rand, high ankle cuff and slightly more pointed profile. The slightly narrow toe isn’t quite as comfy as the wider boots and the walking action is not quite as smooth as some less technical designs. The main drawback for walkers is that the boot is noticeably heavier than some here.

Upper: 3mm reversed full-grain leather

Verdict: A great choice if you are heading for a big snowy mountain and want a boot for the walk in as well as scrambling, mountaineering and climbing.

I've just recently acquired a pair of these as I want to get out more in the winter. The boot is very comfortable and is also very warm thanks to the liner. I agree with the comments above about weight but it's still a great 4 season boot for British mountains. What I do like on this boot is the radius on the soles of the boots. This provides a more natural walking action and you don't feel as though you are walking in ski boots as I have felt previously when walking in 4 season boots.
