Peter Storm Malvern Ultra

£50.00

LFTO rating rating is 3
Owners' rating rating is 3

These boots from Peter Storm are roomy at the heel and wide across the foot, but narrow at the toe. They were also too long. The ankle cuffs are well padded but a little low. They could offer more support, but perform well enough for low-level walks, with good rubber bumpers at the toe and heel and Vibram soles, which offer good grip and shock absorption.

Verdict: If you like the fit, this budget-end boot with Vibram soles is definitely worth a look. There isn’t much ankle support, but this might not be a problem if you stick to easy paths.

bought a pair of these three years ago after taking up walking again. They did let in a lot of water but that was probably due to walking through Irish bogs. Used then to climb many of the higher peaks in the Lakes along with Snowdon. However, after using them over the summer in the Cairngorms and Ben Nevis the stitching stared to come apart and the waterproof lining also ripped. Probably to be expected after three years wear and I doubt these are meant to be used on the higher peaks. A good boot if you are sticking to marked trails and not doing much scrambling.
