Meindl Vakuum GTX

This is a new 3-season boot from Meindl, and for our money it just about has the edge over the Meindl Burma Pro, even though it is a tenner more expensive. Firstly it’s a notch lighter in weight. I also like that full rubber rand, which provides extra protection when scrambling over rocks. The ankle cuff is a little softer than the Burma’s. Get the boot on and you feel just a little closer to the ground, with a smoother rolling action. The big story is the new lining that vacuum-packs your feet for a more comfortable feel. Underfoot the sole is a little more aggressive and less likely to clog with mud. Use this for walking, backpacking, scrambling and generally getting around the UK mountains and you’ll be well-prepared.
This is a £150 boot, and you can save money by getting the non-Gore-Tex version for £140. Some boots are lighter of course, but they are probably not as durable in the long term as this leather and rubber-randed affair. Another lower-priced option is the Meindl Borneo for £130, which also has a stiffer ankle cuff.

Upper: tanned 2.7mm nubuck leather, Gore-Tex waterproof lining
Sole: Meindl Vibram double density
Sizes: 6-14 (men’s); 3½-9 (women’s)
Weight: 1584g (pair, size 8)
Made in: Germany
Stores in the UK: 40

Verdict: A superb boot for regular mountain walking in the UK and abroad, and ideal if durability and performance are more important to you than weight or price.

Felt great in the shop and around the house but after a few walks still cant get them to fit how i want, i've tried different ways of lacing but cant find the best fit, either to tight or to loose think i will have to suck it and see.

Ooooo I just bought a pair of these from Go Outdoors. Slightly more expensive than your listing price of £150 I paid £166 for mine, but what a nice pair of boots. Purchased them a week before I went up Snowdon. Had some real bad weather Hale Rain and high winds. These boots beat my expectations for comfort and for grip. I did however gain a small blister on my little toe which I think came from the Brasher Socks I purchased at the same time. They seemed ok to start off with but the seam on the toe of the sock started to rub on the downward walk. But overall am very happy with them, nice lacing system, holds the foot good with good ankle support. Would highly recommend!
