Meindl Vakuum GTX

£150.00

LFTO rating rating is 5
Owners' rating rating is 4.5

Fully lined with Meindl’s Memory Foam System (MFS), Meindl’s Vakuum GTX boots are soft and comfy to pull on. They are a little too roomy at the toe though, making them feel clumsy, and it is hard to get a stable fit without lacing them very tightly. These are rugged boots that excel high up the mountain. They handle a crampon well, yet don’t feel too rigid without one, but sadly are a bit clumsy when moving on tricky ground.

Verdict: The Vakuum GTX is a solid, high-mountain boot that will perform in summer or winter, but is best-suited to those with a broader forefoot.

After weeks of deliberation as to which boots to buy, I'm over the moon that I finally chose the Meindl Vakuum. The out-of-the-box comfort and the support you get from them is second to none, while the memory foam lining molds to your feet perfectly, giving a very snug fit without overheating them. The soles transmit just the right ammount of feeling to the foot, while providing excellent grip on grass rock or loose stone, and have just the right degree of flexibilty. The only downsides are: 1/ that I know that sometime in the future I'm going to have to spoil the nubuck leather with a coat of wax to maintain the water resistance, and 2/ I wish I'd ditched my six year-old Salomons (which I can't wear out) a couple of years ago, and bought a pair of Vakuum sooner.

I put these on straight from the box and went up the Pentlands with them on - no break in etc! Great fit with the memory foam, provides great support to the feet and ankles, not clumsy as LFTO review mentions. Top quality build - 5 star rating! Previous boot incluse Karrimor and Zamberlan - but Meindl the best!!

I have just changed to these boots and they have been great from the start, very good fitting around the foot and ankle, my only regret is that i have not tried Meindi boots before.

The Meindl Vakuum Lady GTX is my fifth pair of hiking boots and third pair of Meindl – they are by far the best boots I have ever owned. There is a wonderful roll in the soles which carries you on, the lacing system is fantastic because it lets you fine-tune the boot around your foot and the memory foam system firmly hugs your calves. The construction is strong and reliable - as far as I am concerned, the Vakuum GTX are Meindl’s crowning achievement.

had a pair of these boots for over a year now ,and couldnt be more pleased.straight from the box they were immedeatley comfortable and took absoloutley no breaking in.the memory foam grips the foot and ankle, and the lacing system allows you to have diferent tensions at the front, and top of the boot, securley holding your foot in place.a full rubber rand protects the boot from scuffing and scraping, and a grippy vibram sole finishes it off.some say this boot is on the heavy side,i dont agree, its a perfect all year round walking boot, suitable for the valley bottoms and mountain tops.

I was very impresses with this boot and found it fitting my feet perfectly. The memory foam system works wonders and it provides excellent support. I have done walks of 15-20 miles in them and can't recommend them highly enough.

RE: Meindl Vakuum GTX

I bought a pair during the late summer as my old Merrels had done their service , i decided to bite the bullet and buy a pair of boots that i felt would cover every base for a good walking experience , they certainly do ?. The only comment i would make is that they are not as wide fitting as suggested , this made me have to take a boot 1.5 times higher than normal , but once they were on boy these boots really made a difference .I dont find them clumsy at all , and yes they maybe a little on the heavy side they still felt as though i was gliding along on all terrains . no worries with these boots , except i now have to buy my missis a pair ????

RE: Meindl Vakuum GTX

I bought a pair of these in Dec 2007,and have been impressed by how comfortable they were straight out of the box.I did a walk up Pillar a few days later with no signs of rubbing or blisters etc. They look well made, robust, and likely to last some time. Grippy sole, and they didn't feel too heavy or clumsy as your review suggested. I'm pleased with them so far.
