Meindl Softline Ultra GTX

£135.00

The Softline has a  pretty standard fit and is a sturdy boot. Less padding than most, so it takes a little more wearing-in than some. It’s quite tall at the ankle and therefore one of the more supportive boots tested. And the midsole is about the stiffest on test, giving plenty of protection on really rough ground. The Gore-Tex lining keeps water out without any problems and it doesn’t weigh in too heavy for such a well-specified boot.

I bought these boots a few years ago and they have come with me pretty much anywhere from Norway to the Welsh 3000s. Having slightly fussy feet these are the perfect combination of comfort and performance. The boots are extremely comfortable to wear even after several miles of walking and they perform fantastically well over any terrain. The boots show excellent stability over rough terrain and have kept my feet dry even through the wettest of conditions (8 days of rain in the mountains of Norway). Normally fabric boots are not meant to last as well over time as leather boots but these dont seem to be fading at all. These are definitely a 3 season boot though as they struggle to bite into snow and ice but then you cant have everything. A very good boot that I would recomend to anyone.
