This is a striking 4-season design that boasts a good pedigree and some great features. The upper is leather without too much stitching and there is a massive rubber rand to protect it too. On the foot the boot feels spacious and comfortable, while the ankle cuff provides excellent support without restricting a natural walking action. There is excellent stiffness for winter, as well as cushioning and a good deep pattern of lugs on the Vibram sole unit. A heel moulding allows clip-in crampons to be fitted too. This is a good all-round winter boot. But the upper doesn’t perhaps boast the quality of some other one-piece leather boots and is arguably a little soft on the top of the toe box. The toe flexes a little more that some 4-season boots, but this shouldn‘t be a major drawback for the winter walker as these are certainly stiff enough. Other boots have a more precise feel for mountaineering.

Verdict: A good all-round winter walking boot with a waterproof liner but others are better for more technical terrain.
