A great compromise between weight, stiffness and comfort makes these ideal for all types of walking. The initial comfort is good and improves with a wear or two; and the lacing seems to work well in conjunction with the leather ribs and the well-shaped heel to hold the foot nicely in place. A Gore-Tex XCR liner keeps puddles and dew out without adding too much to the weight; and the high mesh content in the uppers means they don’t feel too hot, even in warmer weather. The sole unit is about perfect, with a medium stiff midsole, a versatile Contagrip outsole that gripped on most surfaces, and plenty of shock absorption in the heel – a real bonus on firmer paths and Tarmac. Ideal for casual use, too.
