Meindl Emotion XCR

£80.00

This is a roomy multi-activity shoe from Meindl, but the superb Variofix lacing system helps hold it securely on your foot, making it a pleasure to walk in. It’s well padded, without being over the top, and there’s enough mesh in the uppers to keep feet reasonably cool. However, it’s very low-cut at the ankle, which will suit some, but not others. The Kevlar midsole is about perfect for general walking, without being too stiff for casual use, or driving. The low ankle cuff gives it a light and airy feel that encourages you to move fast. Grip is great on most surfaces, but the cleats are a little shallow for extremely soft going.

Verdict: This is a well-built all-rounder that won’t let you down. Although £80 is quite a lot of money for a shoe, they don’t really come much better.

Lining material wears out vey quickly at heel. I'm on my second pair of these and on both pairs the sole, which is formed of differing materials has come apart after a bit of use. Niether pair has remained waterproof for very long. Needless to say I wo'nt be buying from this manufacturer again.
