Meindl Burma Pro MFS

£140.00

LFTO rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 4.5

The Burma is a modern classic 3-season boot that regularly does well in Trail tests. The boot is based on a top quality nubuck leather upper that is free of too much stitching to enhance durability and water resistance, while stiffness in the toe, heel and upper help support the foot on rough rocky ground. You get a Gore-Tex waterproof lining too to help keep your feet dry. Meindl’s latest improvement of this classic is the Memory Foam System (MFS), which consists of special foam fitted inside the boot that moulds to the shape of your fit, for a closer fit. I also like the rubber rand that encircles this boot to further enhance durability. Underfoot a dual density Vibram sole unit provides excellent support and comfort. The stiffness and support are ideal for general hill and mountain walking, and few boots are regularly rated as highly as the Burma, so it must be good. So nothing really wrong here and this boot should be tried alongside the higher rated models. Some boots offer a little more durability, support or stiffness in the upper and some are a notch lower in price. Others gave a close fit, but this will depend on your foot shape. If you don’t want Gore-Tex then get the Meindl Borneo Pro MFS £130.

Upper: waxed 2.8mm nubuck leather, Gore-Tex waterproof lining
Sole: Meindl Vibram double density

Weight: 1800g (pair, size 8.5)
Made in Germany

Verdict: Buy it if you want one of the best waterproof leather hill and mountain walking boots on the market and prefer comfort over maximum support and durability.

What phenomenal customer service! Approximately 10 years ago I bought a pair of Meindl boots. Although I don’t do a great deal of walking they have always proved to be very comfortable and sturdy. After a recent walk, I noticed that the sole on both boots was starting to break down. I contacted the UK agents, and they agreed to have a look at them for me. A couple of days later, I had an e-mail pointing out that the boots were 10 years old however, they offered to send them back to the manufacturers for a resole which would cost me £51.38. I have just had the boots returned to me, complete with new laces and shiny new soles. If you are in the market for a good quality boot that is going to last a long time and also want the comfort that should something go wrong the manufacturers will deal with the problem I cannot recommend Meindl high enough.

I'm on my second pair of these all purpose hill walking & trekking boots. Comfortable, waterproof & supportive over rough terrain. Fit like a glove and don't feel the weight they are. Superb lacing system means your feet feel as good at the end of the day as they did in the morning. No other boot I've owned has been so satisfactory. Recommended without hesitation.

It's a tough decision choosing boots. You'll be spending a lot of time with them and they can cause you a lot of agony if they're not right. I've now got the Meindl Burma boots and am very happy. They are wide enough for my short, wide feet and were comfortable from the first step, which is partly because of the memoryfoam around the ankle. They are leather, but the leather is so soft they didn't need breaking in at all, which is a real bonus. The only downside, I would say, is that they do feel quite heavy, but then they never promised to be a lightweight boot.

After four years of flawless performance I can't knock these boots. Mine are now battered and bruised but are still as comfortable and watertight as the day I brought them. The vibram sole is very hard waring and as new

I'v realy battered my burma pros and they have stood up to everything from streams to snow to marsh to mud etc....the fit is realy good too...if i had to pick a fault they are a little heavy but that would be picky...as they dont feel bulky! and here hoping they will do just as good on kilimanaro!!

These are the best boots i have had. I actually have the Borneo version without the gore tex lining. Reason being i have size 15 feet and Meindl as far as i know are the only boot company to make boots like this in my size. They are superb. The comfort is excellent as is the support.

Best boots I've had. Bought 6 months ago. Great ankle support. Meindl Sportwax good for the uppers and keeps the water out. MFS is an excellent system - tip is to wear them for 10 minutes and then retighten the laces. Chuffed to bits.

These are the best general purpose walking boots I have ever had irrespective of price. Although actually quite heavy they don't feel it as the fit is so good. Equally at home and comfortable on well defined tracks and rough scrambling. When these eventually wear-out it will take a lot to make me look elsewhere for a replacement.

RE: Meindl Burma Pro MFS

I've had mine for 4 months. I like them... but they are still stretching. I've put volume reducers in already, so we'll see. Good ankle support though. As already mentioned, they need re-tightening after 5-10 mins.
