Everything that is said in the review about the boots is correct with just one massive and overwhelming issue that I have fallen foul of after only two walks. Yes they are a simple design and comfortable and stylishly simple looking, but what they most definitely are not is a boot to be used on any ground where there may be loose rock or moderate ascents. These are path boots only and if you go off trail even the smallest amount you and your boots are not going to be fiends for long. Tackling rocky paths as described above is soemthing to be avoided, as is scree (just don't bother), and any route that is in the slightest bit jagged is going to upset you and your relationship with these boots a lot.
So what is the reason for my disappointment with these seemingly great boots? Well after only two walks, one to wetherlam and one on fairfield, these boots look like they have been attacked by tiger claws and the leather on the toe is almost halfway through in places (TWO WALKS!!). I am seriously worried that £160 is only going to last me no more than 10 walks before I am through the leather. I am not a happy bunny at all. I have asked about the possibility of having a rubber rand put on and the resounding response is 'We can't do that'. Even though the 2011 model has one? Don't get it.
But, don't get me wrong. I like how comfortable the boots are, I like how stable they feel, I don't like the description rugged because they are not. You need to take extreme care when walking in these boots otherwise you too will become familiar with the 'We are sorry but accidental wear isn't covered under warranty' response. Steer clear of these boots. I am very very very disappointed. And a customer has been lost.
See the forum if you can help me out.
