The Lowa Stirling GTX has a full leather upper with minimal stitching to increase durability; Gore-Tex waterproof lining; rubber rand around whole boot; very stiff toe box protects the feet; stiff Vibram sole ideal for rocky ground; reasonable lug pattern for general traction. But heavy at 2020g (pair, size 11); lugs on some others are a little better for tackling muddy ground.
The Lowa Stirling GTX is a great boot for backpacking and mountain walking, but others are lighter for similar performance.
