A 3-season boot with full leather upper with minimal stitching for durability, rubber rand around whole boot and very stiff toe box to protect feet. Stiff Vibram sole is ideal for rocky ground; reasonable lug pattern for general traction. However, at 1972g (pair, size 11) the boot is fairly heavy. Lugs on other boots on the market are a little better for muddy ground. You’ll also have to look after the leather.

Verdict: A great, durable boot for backpacking and mountain walking without a waterproof lining.

This week saw my very first outing up Helvellyn in my new pair of Lowa Munro's. First assessment is very positive - good grip on the icy and slippery ridges of Striding Edge and no problem with dampness after a full day's hiking in winter conditions. Amazingly comfortable out of the box and my feet felt well protected on the rocky paths.
