I bought a pair of Keen Targhee Mids in REI, Los Angeles, 10 months ago after the boots I took out on an extended trip wore through the sole. The fit was spot on, broad fitting and comfortable and the inclusion of an eVent liner (I am a huge fan of this fabric) made them a winner for me.
They were never exactly waterproof however, with leaks being evident between the sole unit and the upper of the boot. Water resistant would be a more realistic description of their performance. Grip wise I never had a problem and wore them up in the Ochil Hills and walking the dog in the glens where they performed reasonably well.
The biggest problem however was that the lacing system failed after only 10 months use. One of the fabric loops that the laces run through was abraded through rendering the boots useless. I can accept that these systems are a compromise, but I would expect a lot more than 10 months use out of a pair of £95 boots.
Overall I am disappointed with them, and can't see myself buying another pair of Keen boots in the future.
