Karrimor KSB Peak Event 2009

£80.00

LFTO rating rating is 3
Owners' rating rating is 3.5

The Karrimor KSB Peak Event weighs 1400g (pair, size 11); stiff toe box provides lots of protection; Vibram outsole for good grip on a variety of terrain; good cushioning for hard surfaces; eVent waterproof lining. But very soft sole flex restricts performance to level paths; fabric upper not as durable as leather boots and those with less stitching; upper is not as stiff and supportive as it looks.

Verdict: The Karrimor KSB Peak Event is a good boot for moorland walks,  but not ideal for rockier terrain.

I have worn these boots for over a year now, on a weekly basis, on low level walks as well as higher ones in the Cheviot hills. The boots cope extremely well with boggy terrain - a must in the hills in the north - as well as any craggier bits that were encountered. Ok, so i haven't been up Ben Nevis in them, but they do exactly what they say on the tin - a lightweight pair of 3-season boots. Treat the uppers with Nikwax or Graingers and they won't get your tootsies wet at all. Worn in the height of summer as well as low level snow, for value for money, comfort and practicality they are superb. I would recommend them to any walker who wants good boots for a variety of terrain, although they may not be suited to high mountains where a stiffer sole may be needed.
