Karrimor KSB 300 Leather Skye eVent

£90.00

LFTO rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 1

This 3-season model is Karrimor’s best-selling boot. It’s built around 2.4mm full grain leather, which is top quality leather so ideal for a hard day in the hills. Inside there is an eVent waterproof lining to guarantee dry feet,But like all the best boots there is really minimal chance of the leather leaking anyway as it is not riddled with stitching. The toe box is reasonably stiff too to protect the feet on rocky ground. Underfoot it is the classic Vibram dual density Bi-Feder unit that has been well proven to be ideal for general hill-walking. The is good stiffness in this boot to protect the feet from the terrain, but it is also flexible enough to allow a very easy walking action, making it a good option for general valley, hill, moor and mountain walking. At £90 it is a bargain for a waterproof boot of its quality. But a higher price will bring more comfort as well as a stiffer sole flex, a stiff heel cup and a stiffer upper in general, which would all be useful if you are heading for the roughest high mountain paths. A higher price would also bring a rubber rand to protect the upper a little more on scree and rock. Although an eVent waterproof lining is as good as any other, you’ll still feel less sweaty in an unlined boot.

Bought these for someone as a quick purchase, given the 4 star rating from LFTO and other websites who assumed this boot was the same as the 'old' style Karrimor boots. Karrimor's quality is down hill; they went bust a couple of years ago, and, if you check out the contact details on the website, multiple owners are in charge of different departments. The boots are no longer a sign of quality, and only a sign of cheaply made rubbish, over priced for some models. Avoid the bought-out 'modern' Karrimor at all costs - it's just a name now, not a brand, hence a number of large stockists ignoring the brand, quite rightly. Shame, given the history pre 2008.

These boots are terrible! I had a pair for 6 years and the sole was bad but the rest of the boot was excellent,so i decided too buy the 2008 model. They are now on the way back too the shop with the soles hanging off after 8 weeks use. They dont breathe either and you end up with wet sweaty feet, the strange thing was the left foot was always wetter than right foot. The leather is like a sponge also and forget using these boots two days in a row as they wont be dry the day after use. I also had too take out the insoles and replace them with the ones out of my old boots as they had holed in two places. The soles seperating from the boots was the last straw and these must be the worst soles vibram have ever made. I would say these boots look the part but are not fit for purpose.
