These three-season leather boots from Demon are very low at the ankle, but still reasonably supportive. They feel good from the off and get even better with distance. Simple lacing allows a stable fit with limited toe banging, even downhill. A lower cut boot that works best for easier going and low-level walking, yet has enough midsole to venture on to something a little tougher, if required. A little sweaty compared to some though.

Verdict: A traditional-looking, low-cut, full-grain leather boot that’s ideal for easy walking, yet can also handle the odd foray on to rougher stuff. Wonderful value at £50.
