A clumsy looking shoe, but it’s well padded and reasonably broad, so feels very comfortable from the box. The speed-lace eyelet makes them easy to get on and off. Feels like a short boot rather than a beefed-up trainer and is reassuringly supportive on the hills. The deep tread is superb on soft ground but it loses out on weight and breathability.

Tough, chunky and a little heavier and clumsier than many of its competitors, but is well-suited to typical British countryside. Excellent value for money.
