Carn Viper EV 2010

Carn first appeared on the outdoor scene in 2009 and has created some useful shoes and boots. The Viper is a very practical choice for outdoor activity. It boasts an eVent waterproof lining, which is protected by a tough synthetic upper. Inside there is antimicrobial treatment too, which should prevent this becoming as smelly as some footwear. Also inside you get a more substantial footbed than many shoes, which all helps the comfort. Back on the outside the toe box offers good protection for the foot and has a rough rubber rand to maintain durability. The heel cup is also very supportive while underfoot a good level of cushioning and stiffness make this comfy on rocky ground. But the Carn Viper EV’s outsole lug pattern is a little less aggressive than some, which is really the only drawback to this shoe. I did find the upper slightly tight across the flex point on my feet but that may just be a personal fit issue with this model, so try before you buy to make sure this is not a problem for you. There are lighter shoes and some that are more specific to climbing for example.

The Carn Viper EV is a good, stylish and supportive waterproof shoe for walking, hiking, scrambling and general outdoor action.
