The Brasher Chichon has won Trail’s children’s boot test for a number of years. It boasts a Gore-Tex waterproof lining and a well-built upper and sole for maximum foot protection. There’s also a dash of reflective trim for night or road walks. The exceptionally aggressive lug pattern is ideal for mud. But a full leather upper would be more durable in the long term, but I suspect the child will grow out of these before they wear out so this is not a major issue. There are lower-priced options of course, but they don’t offer the features of the Chichon.
