These three-season leather boots from Blacks are pretty comfortable, with a secure, narrow heel and broad, roomy toe. The ankle cuffs are a little harsh though, and the lacing system rather fiddly. They perform OK, but the flexible midsoles give very little support on rough ground and don’t power you forward like some. The full-grain leather uppers are beaten on quality by most, but prove pretty waterproof.

Verdict: A very flexible midsole and low ankle cuff makes the Kilimanjaro best suited to easy terrain. Vibram soles for just £60, but at the expense of a good quality leather upper.
