The Explorer is quite a wide boot, and this combined with some quite thick padding makes it feel great from the box. The lacing is good enough to get a decent, stable fit even with a slimmer foot, but it’s not as high in the ankle as some. On a walk, it feels light and easy-going, courtesy of the high fabric content, but it still offers decent toe and heel protection and the Gore-Tex lining works well in keeping puddles and dew out. It’s a decent all-rounder but definitely better suited to easier or softer going.
