Asolo PowerMatic 200 2009

£150.00

LFTO rating rating is 3
Owners' rating rating is 5

The Asolo PowerMatic 200 weighs 1864g (pair, size 11); Gore-Tex waterproof lining; triple-density PU sole for cushioning; low ride height for close-to-the-ground feel; great sole stiffness for rocky ground; virtually stitch-free leather upper; solid toe box, lots of support. But outsole is not quite as aggressive as similar-priced options.

Verdict: The Asolo PowerMatic 200 is a superb top-quality leather boot for hill and mountain walking for those who don’t need a rubber rand or a slightly more aggressive sole lug pattern.

When I purchased these boots I went to a shop which offered a fitting service which to me is essential when buying something as important as boots. My feet are narrow and Asolo offer two width fittings one of which is narrow!. The boots have a great fit and you get no movement of the foot when in use. They have had extensive use on all Lakeland high fell terrains and have excelled on all. The triple density PU sole offers excellent grip on grass, scree and rocky scrambles, the stiffness is spot on, also the shock absortion is very good my knees tell me that !.For a leather boot they feel quite light which is good on a long hike. The virtually stitch free upper keeps water at bay and I have never had wet feet, one slight negative, a rubber toe rand would have been a bonus as the toe area gets very scuffed and marked. So in all a great pair of boots at a reasonable price offering high quality, comfort and performance.
