Timex e Compass 2009

£95.00

LFTO rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 0

While most of the analogue mountain watches we looked at do little more than tell the time and possibly offer a stopwatch facility, the Timex e Compass also features a built-in compass. It requires careful calibration but it proved to be pretty accurate as long as it was away from electronic equipment. It’s comfortable on the wrist, waterproof to 100m and features Timex’s Indiglo backlight, making it a good choice on the hill. But the Timex e Compass’s strap was rather fiddly and the bezel didn’t twist, which makes the north-pointing compass less useful for walking on a bearing.

Screen size 35mm diameter
Weight 71g
Features Indiglo night light, waterproof to 100m,  electronic compass with north-pointing needle

Verdict: The Timex e Compass is definitely a good watch for the hill, but the compass is a questionable extra. Waterproof to 100m, robust and won the ‘Best Value’ award.
