Chunkier than the Suunto Core, the Vector is more user-friendly. It also costs less and could have more functionality for most hill-walkers. There’s a clear box on the main screen for barometric trends, and you can scroll between altimeter and barometer, which I wasn’t able to do on the Core. There’s also a hot button that takes you directly to the compass. But with the Suunto Vector you don’t get the sunrise and sunset features of the Core, while barometer trend indicators are less obvious to read than the visual weather indicator that comes with other models tested here.
