The Rohan Cloudbase multi-activity jacket uses very waterproof and extremely breathable fabric; very relaxed design; mesh lining adds comfort; hood rolls to collar; hood has stiffened peak. But 614g (men‘s M) is relatively heavy; pocket access is easily obscured by rucksack belts; hood drawcords are left to fly in face; hood fit and movement is not good.

But Velcro waist adjuster does not provide as much comfy variation as a belt; belt loops but no belt provided; zips too small for use with thick gloves.

The only jacket we looked at with its own snowskirt and an MP3 pocket; adjustable hood; plenty of pockets (internal and external, zipped and mesh); Velcro cuffs and drawcord hem adjustment. But it’s heavy at 1016g; it’s a ski jacket and thus better kept for the piste rather than the hill-walker. Tog rating 2.6

These waterproof overtrousers have a 39cm ankle zip; built-in gaiter keeps mud out of boots; reinforced ankle cuffs; fleece-lined waist for extra comfort; belt loops and zip fly; two zipped pockets; two press stud closure pockets; inner thigh mesh vents. But very wide at the ankle cuff; very heavy at 772g and they're too stylish to get dirty!

This multi-activity jacket’s hood rolls into collar and fits well; front zip gets a double stormflap; dedicated map pocket at hem; mesh lining adds comfort; good sleeve movement. But 668g is very heavy for a multi-activity jacket; higher price brings more breathable and more waterproof fabric; pockets access is obscured by rucksack belts; no reflective piping.
