Vango’s Anti-shock Walker is a bargain pole offering great value for money. The alloy design is quite heavy, though, and the nifty little compasses in the handles don’t always work. Even so, they’re nice poles, with all the essential features and at a reasonable price. Adequate performance on the hill.

Verdict: Impressive straps and a good twist-lock mechanism for the money. A fully ‘grown up’ three-section pole that’s ideal for groups, occasional users or novices.
