Note the price, then note the feature of a rolltop end opening, which makes filling and cleaning this hydration system super-easy. Furthermore you get an autoseal link between the feeder pipe and bladder, and the bite valve has a cap to prevent accidental squeezing. This all means that there were no leaks in our test. Better still, the water taste was as good as any here. But some people may prefer a simple screw cap for filling over this rolltop design. Some of the locking bite valves are neater than the cap that has to be placed over this valve perhaps too.

This is a great piece of functional kit. The 90 degree bite valve is easier to use than the straight type I've used on previous bladders, and produces an ample flow of water when in use. Cleaning is easy, with the pipe detaching and the "widepac" fastening allowing easy access to the interior of the bladder. Also the solid conector between tube and bladder doesn't even look like leaking 1 year in. Simple answer, for £12 this is a very useful hydration system and I'd definitely recommend it.

Really nice, simple, easy to use hydration pack. The bite valve works well, and the pack is easy to clean. Also, no detectable taste seems to be given to the water. Can be picked up for as little as £14.

Best hydration system out there! The tube stays clean longer than Platypus and Camelback in my expreience (I've had both previously). The fold over mouth has not shown any indications of leaking after over a year of regular use. Past problems with cross treading of the screw top openings in Platypus and especially Camelback is not a problem with the Source Widepac. GET IT! You won't regret it.

After seeing this item get a '5 star' rating in Trail, I decided to buy one (albeit a 3 litre version). At first it was wonderful, a robust piece of kit that looked like it would last forever. However within about three months, a problem developed with the bite valve where the water would constantly drip after I had just taken a drink. During a walk on Boxing Day, a hole actually appeared just above the bite valve rendering the whole thing useless. I think I'll go back to a standard 'platypus' ot 'camelback'.
