Helly Hansen Trackfinder 2011

£71.00

The Helly Hansen Trackfinder weighs 828g (pair, size 11); extremely breathable mesh upper; sole has good, deep lugs for grip in mud; good stiffness in sole for paths; good cushioning. But toe box offers very little protection; no waterproof lining limits use of shoe; once water enters it cannot easily escape as no drainage ports near base of sides.

Helly Hansen Rapide

£95.00

This soft shell weighs 466g; very breathable fabric that is very durable; Velcro adjustable cuffs; two map-sized hip pockets. But fabric soaks up water easily compared to more water-resistant garments; rucksack belts easily obscure pockets.

Helly Hansen Bekk

£50.00

This sandal’s synthetic materials are fast-drying; lip around toes protects feet; well-padded straps; Storm Grip sole offers good grip. But footbed is not well-profiled, so this sandal doesn’t allow such a natural walking action as some; other sandals have heel adjustment; sole is not as supportive as others and some offer more cushioning.
