Petzl Myo RXP 2010

£80.00

LFTO rating rating is 5
Owners' rating rating is 0

The Petzl Myo RXP is a regulated headtorch, meaning it automatically switches to reserve power mode when batteries are almost discharged so you don’t get a sudden drop in light output. The three lighting levels can be programmed to any of the 10 output levels, so that you can set up the headtorch output to match your requirements, which is particularly useful if you use a headtorch regularly in a specific situation. Or you may just find the factory settings of low, medium, high plus boost ideal of course and so never use the programming feature. All these functions are accessed via two small buttons on the main housing. The head tilts and a diffuser can be flipped over the lens to broaden the beam. The batteries are housed at the back of the head so the headtorch is more balanced in use, and a top strap is available for the headband if required. In short this headtorch has everything. But the Petzl Myo RXP’s price and weight are high and it is relatively bulky too. So you need to be sure that you need all those features such as the 140 lumens of power, the ability to programme the output and the long battery life, because if you don’t need all that other Petzl headtorches may be more suitable for your needs.

Bulbs 1 high-output white LED

Maximum beam 77 metres
Max burn time 95 hours
Batteries 3 x AA (included)

Verdict
The Petzl Myo RXP offers superb performance for regular night action, but the price is only justified if you really need its unrivalled versatility. It won ‘Best in Test’.
