These walking poles from Mountain have well-shaped grips, although the rubber material becomes uncomfortable after a long hike. The straps are easy to adjust with a slider mechanism, but have no padding and don’t feel as secure as you’d like under downward pressure. The on-off mechanism for the anti-shock system offers the best of both worlds, without being too heavy. The anti-shock lock takes a bit of getting used to, but clicks positively into place.

Verdict: Well-priced poles with the added benefit of optional anti-shock.
