I have a pair Leki Makula poles that cost me around £70. I only had them about 6 months when the bottom section stopped tightening on one of them - and the other tightened "with difficulty". I took them back to Cotswolds and after much fiddling the gentleman told me to put olive oil around the tightening mechanisms. I took them home and gave them a good cleaning (I din't use the oil). Oil and friction don't mix, if you know what I mean!! Anyway, no joy. I took them back again. By this time the pole that was tighening would not open. A different saleman again played around with them and then got one of the other staff to hold one end of the pole while he pulled the other end. It finally came apart. A bit more fiddling and he then anounced, "they seem to be working ok now". I asked if it should take two people to open the mechanism on the poles. I didn't get and answer to that. I also mailed a complaint to the addres on the Leki web site and got the reply that they were only the distributors and nothing to do with them!! So I'm not happy with my Leki poles. Most people seem to have a good word on Leki pole but a waste of money for me. I'm considering buying a pair of Komperdell Titanal Powerlock. Anyone out there got any advise on geting my Lekis working or on Komperdell?
