With four sections, the Compacts have a shorter than average pack-down size, which makes them ideal for carrying and travelling; although perhaps the best hasn’t been made of this as they still only extend to 125cm – one of the shortest tested. They have hard plastic grips and narrow webbing straps that are adjusted with a ladder-lock buckle, so not the most comfortable in the hand. But they’re not bad for weight or strength, and have tungsten tips that didn’t show any real signs of wear.
