This is a beautifully crafted and wonderfully useful headtorch. The manufacturer claims it has an 80m beam, but what I liked was the variable power settings that add up to six lighting options plus flash. There is a setting here for almost every occasion. With a maximum burn time of 164 hours on a set of AA batteries, you also have plenty of light for a trip away. The weight is good too and the design very compact. The top-of-head strap adds security, while the battery pack fitted at the back is more stable and comfortable than batteries fitted directly within the headlamp. A battery power indicator is a welcome bonus. But the long-distance beam is very narrow (however you do have other settings for a wider beam). It can take some practice to learn how to find all the power settings via just one button, but there’s very little to create problems here.

I've used various headtorches over the last twenty years and this is quite easily the best I've used; there are more powerful ones out there - but they cost at least twice as much.
