What's your ambition for 2012?

Hi all, it's Nick from Country Walking. Hope you're all splendid and in good form. We're chatting about our ambitions for 2012 and they're ranging from lovely and simple "just walk more" to "get to Everest basecamp", with the Pennine Way, South Downs Way, Scafell Pike and the Beacons Horseshoe in between. What's your big walking ambition for 2012?

Have permission from her indoors to attempt the coast to coast walk, but my walking partner may have to pull out.  So if that doesn't happen, some of the time will be used for a great big scottish adventure.  That and getting to 2500 Geocache finds are my ambitions.....

Mappi are you starting or finishing at Lynmouth?

Bob, great to see you're still going.  I remember you talking about a way to carry your sac ages ago, great stuff!

Running the Dartmoor Perambulation in the summer (about 50 miles) and running the Lakeland 100 the year after. Rude not to.

Hi Nick

My ambition is to get fitter and then for my husband and I to do some to the wainwrights as a birthday present was two of the wainwright books.  Wanting to start in May with the easy ones, ie Catbells, Helm Crag and then work up to the bigger ones, also would like to tackle Snowdon via one of the easier routes (Llanberis or Rhyd Ddu/Snowdon Ranger) and then walk part of the Pembrokshire coastal path in September.  Then maybe try the Three Peaks having been inspired by the "Lazy Walker" and see the "big bridgy thing"!!

Finish the Wainwrights, only 14 to go! Bessyboot to finish, we walked past the top last time we were up there as we thought the Wainwright summit was on Rosthwaite Fell, that will teach us.... Still a lovely hill to visit again, and one friends can walk up also

Hello! I'm new here, my general ambition is simply to get out more and walk! I've yet to tackle the vast majority of well-known hills and peaks and want to get started as soon as!

Hopefully in April me and one of my work colleagues are going to have a go at the Cleveland Way, although he's also ttrying to rope me into doing the Nidderdale Way and the middle section of Hadrian's Wall.

Regards,

Fletch

My 2012 ambition is to get fit, and do more camping (wild and "civilised"). Also to get out on the mtb that Santa is bringing

Just to get out there again! I have been out of it for five years through illness, and another year with too many other things on to be able to spend a few days away. One of the few disadvantages with living in West Cornwall is that all the pointy stuff is a long way away!

2. Welsh 3000 challenge

3. Offa's dyke in 6 days, not an easy 6 days but should be worth while.

Hopefully the twins will be old enough to allow me to leave them with the mrs without annoying her too much... And finances improve enough to allow me to get out more than once a quarter ...

DEAR FOXY FOXY

I'm a regular runner up on dartmoor, based in dartmouth I'd be interested in a perambulation too, might be a good idea to try a long reccie first.

Not many fell runners down here might be keen to meet up, ideally need a driver to do say half and see how it goes.

Go camping again and do some hill walks. I need to be modest as having a 1 year old has its limitations, which generally involve bringing him along as there isn't anyone else to look after him.

Pupil: An hour? A short walk? Why? What do you call a long one? Me: Oooh.... about 3 days. 2nd Pupil: Where do you sleep???! Me: Errr... In a tent!

I want to walk in the Sierra de Guadalupe more often. I've walked in Spring and in Autumn. I want to walk in the Winter with the snow and the Summer with the eagles flying overhead.

When the days get longer, and the leaves start appearing on the trees again. I was thinking of doing a walk from Ranmore to Leith Hill and back. I did it a couple of years ago. Its a stunning walk about 12 miles, fantastic views from Ranmore and Leith, and a variety of woodland to walk through. There is even a little tea shop in Leith Tower, but you have to sit outside.

This should satisfy everything you want (except its Surrey). Hopefully see on Sunday week for the Kent Christmas Walk

This summer I have the Anglesey coastal path planned, it'll be my 10th LDP and I'll be going past 1000 miles on LDPs during it.

To walk on Clare Island, round Clew Bay, up Croagh Patrick Peak and round the twisting Lanes of Galway and Mayo

Walk in Snowdonia, the Peaks, The Lake District and the Cairngorms and enjoy them all

To do the John Clear Malverns challenge walk
