Charity Challenge - Bob Graham Round

On the 3rd June my TA unit, D Squadron 254 Medical Regiment, will be walking the Bob Graham Round (42 peaks in the Lake District, 63-72 miles dependent on which source you look at, and 28500ft of ascent!).  We are aiming to complete it in under 40 hours.  The aim is to raise cash for the Forces Childrens Trust.

Any help (and especially cash) would be gratefully receieved.

If you want any more info we have a website www.cumbrianstroll.co.uk, as does the charity www.forceschildrenstrust.org.  More importantly we have a fund-raising site uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/DSqn

Thanks

At the rate of one and a half miles per hour? Really?

Need a place to stay in the Peaks? http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCMQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.birdsnestcottage.co.uk%2F&ei=BNDCTci_Fou88gON_uXHBQ&usg=AFQjCNGL75TDupM8cFntxbJjSKtX2jDtvg

Aye (5 hours of that is just going up - Naismiths rule).  Since most of the group aren't hardened hill walkers we are having some enforced rest stops.  NONE of us are fell runners, and we're doing it in uniform.

My brother is running it that weekend. I am being roped in to help with supplies and possibly verify some summits with him.

Good luck to him.  Quite apart from the sheer length of the route, there are some sections that are pretty aggresive ascents and descents.

You run it at just less than 3mph so that sounds fair

Good luck all, its a mammoth challenge

Mine is usually less than 8 hours - any longer than that and I wake up!!

Though I did read it in about 4 weeks - really recommend Richard Askwith's book about fell running and the BG round in particular

Another bump - two weeks to go.  Just did the Nevis Horseshoe yesterday.  It half-killed me, I'm aching, yet the BGR is five to six times longer!
