What is your favourite tipple after a long walk?

I'm sure we can all agree that a nice glass/bottle of beer or 2 or 8 is a fantastic way to unwind after a day in the mountains.  As a keen fellwalker and real ale drinker I am interested to find out which beer/spirit/cider/whatever my fellow hill junkies enjoy after a day in the mountains?

After a day in the Coniston fells last week I enjoyed a very good pint of Bluebird XB in the Black Bull, but my favourite post-mountain beer is a beer made by the prospect brewery in Wigan called 'Gold Rush'.  Its quite expensive, but its worth every penny!

Mine is Leffe, sadly though not many places sell it. They do however do it by the bottle at the Black Bull in Coniston, at The Three Shires in Little Langdale, and the used to sell it on draught at the Masons Arms in Bowland Bridge.

I had a pint of Cairngorms 'Blessed Thistle' after coming out of a mountain storm, into the pub in Aviemore, and it was like nectar.  A very distinctive taste with a hint of ginger. Sooo good after a long day on the hill.

Straight after I like a light real ale, not too picky and too much choice if I did want to be picky but later on I do like an Oban.

Wainwright's Ale is light enough and tastes good but I also love Jail Ale from Dartmoor.

A beer from Wigan - that's my home ground, next time I'm up there I'll be on the look out for it.

Good post, more of this please Smartcookie!

if am in the pub any lager but if at camp dram or brandy as its light and gets you well oiled oh question was after a walk oh well any lager unless I make it home before the lager then its brandy its cheap at 14 quid a litre and if you drink it all you be drunk for a long time mind you will feel rough for a while unless you have a back up bottle to open hair of the dog and all pmsl

You can get it in most decent pubs around here.  It is very very good, but its about 3 quid a bottle.

Duechers IPA is also a good post mountain drink.

This will sound childish but when I hiked a couple trails in Brazil, One in specific had a small kiosk with food at the top of the mountain as alot of trekkers would come.

It was a small hike and I knew I didnt need food however I also didnt bring water. bad mistake.

Wrapping things, the kiosk had cokes in glass bottles. After 6 miles hike, that tasted like god made soft drink.

so glass bottle coke definitely

My favorite tipple after a walk is a still cider. It is the only time that I drink cider.

If available, which it never is in hostelries, caffeine-free diet coke (due to a caffeine-avoidance strategy due to super-high blood pressure), or green tea with lemon (for the same reason).

The Trail obsession with alcohol mystifies me.

After a days walking in Langdale it's hard to beat a pint of the Brittania Inn's own special ale brewed by the Coniston brewery especially if its warm enough to sit outside

Blackzach, you're a chap after my own heart! I enjoyed mine sitting in the corner between the bar and the fireplace watching a huge long line of Ramblers form up down the road outside. I didn't have too far to go for a refill either!!!

I'd say that generally I go for a good local bitter or IPA wherever I am. It might be the pubs own brew or the local mountain rescue teams fundraising beer but something local first.

If I feel rather thirsty or very tired I have a lemonade to refresh myself.

I'll be in Langdale tomorrow, so I may well pay the Brit Inn a visit.

my first wild camp was accompanied with a lovely half bottle of wonderful scotch my favourite tipple as the sun went down over Kinder but on normal walks its either carling or guiness depending on my mood up the alchohol its the perfect end to any heavy activity
