Getting high in October

Right. Top trip to Ullapool - book it in your diaries for the same week next year! but thats ages away and we need something to look forward to, so im proposing a repeat of last year's october trip to scotland. im heading up on thurs 7th (possibly the wed if work will let me) and coming down on tues 12th.  original plan was to stay at glen nevis Yh but have heard its a bit iffy so not sure now, but was aiming for there as i have this idea of a mega route - up ledge route then down the CMD Arete on the Ben (obviously i have to run this by the guru JohnnyW to see if its do-able, but the Flying Scotsman Aultguish seemed to think it was. obviously v v early start). apart from that theres a load of stuff in that area i'd like to have a look at. not bothered about glencoe myself but happy to base a bit closer to that if it suited everyone - i know my best mate tracey is coming up on those days and is itching to do curved ridge on buchaille etive mor as she missed the trip last year, she'd also talking about going even further up to do liathach....

anyway, post if you fancy this trip. worked really well last year with staying in one place and doing a group meal (top chef dolly did us proud!).

show me where it hurts and i'll rub it better

Hello out there anyone - Folks are normally bubbling by now about a trip to God's Own Country, but what with all the injuries, things are a little quiet.

For my tuppence worth, it will be 10 weeks after my wee accident, so I am hoping I'll be at least able to bimble up and down something. Quite what remains to be seen..........

Johnny; was lurking on this one but its my Mum's 80th - can't miss that.  Hope the leg is holding up and improving.  The Bochette is still waiting!

I'd be up for the walk Mike - That Ben Nevis Inn thingummybob is everything I dislike about tourist-focussed 'eateries'.

Never gone over the river to Achintee, so I'm game.......................

I'm a definate, got a chaffeur sorted for my eldest, staying at Glen Nevis, arriving Thursday but coming home on Sunday, is anyone bringing their winter toys for a day at the Ice Factor?

The grass may appear to be greener on the other side, but usually has lots more sh*t hidden beneath the surface.

I hadn't planned to, but it could be an option if my ankle is giving me jip and the weather's pish - I could be belay bunny. Also, are you aware you have to be a competent ice climber before they let you on unsupervised? (Not saying you're not Lee, just that it's a bit more controlled than a standard dry wall). Again, I could count as the experienced one if required is what I'm saying.............

Ice Factor

Could well be tempted in, if the weather is rubbish.

What's the pricing like ?  There are no clues online

It's not cheap - I think it was £25-odd for 2hrs (which is more than enough, as your arms are burst by then if you hack and slash like me!), but more if you need kit.

There is a glimmer of hope at the bottom of the Outlook on MWIS, and also the 6 day Metoffice one............ If that Scandinavian high build quickly enough, we could be saved from battling in the wind and wet. Just that it'll be icy high up..... rough with the smooth eh?
