Where is the best place to see autumn colour?

Answer

The first step in sussing out likely colourful spots, is to scan your maps for woods with the non-coniferous tree symbol. Otherwise, check the Forestry Commission maps (www.forestry.gov.uk) which are updated regularly with current leafy conditions from ‘still green’ to ‘turned golden’. Predictions suggest a great autumn show this year following a warm dry September with cool nights – perfect for the leaf ogling the Japanese call momijigari. But hurry, because autumn is also incredibly early - blame a scorching spring and that dismal summer. Missed it all? Scuff your boots through the leaves like a kid, play conkers, and admire the structure and wildlife of the woods laid bare.

Hi All,

Obviously everyone has their own special place, so I would have to opt for the Glen Affric area.  It's stunning!
