Is it possible to repair a small 1cm tear in Goretex Paclite? If so how?
By Country Walking magazine
Gore-Tex produce fabric repair kits - adhesive patches which you can just press on if you're out in the hills, then iron on when you get home for a better bond. They give a reasonable seal and last for five washes, and crucially, can be removed if you want to make a permanent repair. For a longer-lasting fix, there are three approved Gore-tex repairers in Britain; Scottish Mountain Gear Limited, Lancashire Sports Repair, and Tundra Repairs. Repairs can run to over £25, but it's still far cheaper than a new jacket!

If you have any sewing skills you can make a nice repair with some gore tex patches and then seal the "seams" effectively - I always wash the garmet with nikwax to reproof it as well once the jobs done

Try spinnaker repair tape. You can get it for about £4 a role from chandlers. Ive used it on repairs to gortex trousers and it works a treat. put a patch on eack side of tear. My repairs have gone through the washing machine dozens of times and still hold strong. About a metre on a roll , so good value too.

You can easily repair a rip that small with stick-on patches and good quality seam sealer, a few manufacturers do them. Many manufactureres will do a repair service where they will stich in and tape a patch - but it costs! However you do it you're going to loose a bit of breathability but on an area that small who cares. And there's always gaffer tape for that rugged, 'been there done that' look!

I''m looking for a decent flask. I've tried several but they're not keeping warm for long even after pre-warming. I'm going om MT winter skills course in 5 weeks so need to get something good for then.
