How do I stop the ends of the boot laces breaking - which makes rethreading very difficult?
By Country Walking magazine
The tip of your bootlace is called the 'aglet' (every day we learn a little!) and the only way to prevent them breaking is to reinforce them with gaffer/duct/carpet tape before they break (tapes like Duck have good water-resistance, flexibility and durability). However, creating your own sugper-aglets is probably the best option. There are various methods available, from melting, to knotting, dipping in glue and more. They are lovingly described at this site: www.fieggen.com/shoelace/agletrepair
We're grateful to the boot-fitting experts at www.mountainfeet.co.uk for the infromation in this answer.

either melt the ends (if nylon) or try melting a little candle wax onto the ends.

I''m looking for a decent flask. I've tried several but they're not keeping warm for long even after pre-warming. I'm going om MT winter skills course in 5 weeks so need to get something good for then.
